Thursday again - time flies.
So Anders got home kind of early from work even for a thursday (friday in Sweden!) which made the 2 of us very happy! This means more time to spend together, yeayyy!
We drove down to The Dubai Mall, the world's largest shopping mall based on total area and thirteenth largest by gross leasable area. We decided to have dinner at Ping Pong, a Dim Sum (dumpling) restaurant which has an outdoor seating with great views of The Dubai Fountain. Speaking of The Dubai Fountain. The set is on the 30-acre Burj Khalifa Lake, the fountain shoots water jets as high as 500 ft (150 metres), equivalent to that of a 50-storey building. The fountain is 900 ft (275 metres) long and has five circles of varying sizes and two central arcs. Kind of hard to imagine, I know. You just have to see this for yourself, IRL!
The Dubai Fountain performs daily... |
The fountains has many performance repertoires and the signature piece is the world-renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, Con te partiro (Time to Say Goodbye). |
This is truly amazing! |
The food at Ping Pong is absolutely brilliant! This was the first time for us visiting this restaurant, but we will be back for sure. Dumplings are like Sushi...you will be full but not feeling all stuffed and sweaty as you always will after taken several other dishes. It´s a fresh and very good feeling.

My hubby´s excellent dessert: 2 balls and some vanilla icecream. |
After Ping Pong we decided to go to the movies. In Dubai all the cinemas are located at the malls or at the smaller shopping centers. And of course, there is no exception with the Reel Cinemas at The Dubai Mall. It´s GIGANTIC! 22 screens including the first THX-certified cinemas in the UAE, The Picturehouse – UAE’s first cinema hall to exclusively screen critically acclaimed movies and four ultra-luxurious Platinum Movie Suites, Reel Cinemas at The Dubai Mall is the largest cinema in the region.
Strolling around at the mall, we just had to visit the Aquarium/Underwater Zoo. It is designed to world-class standards, The aquarium allows you to experience the exotic wonders of aquatic life first-hand through breathtaking views and a choice of leisure and dining activities. It is strategically located in the centre of The Dubail Mall, The 50 meter long aquarium is flanked by two glass tunnels at varying levels offering windows into the incredible diversity of marine life. Travelling through these, you will be treated to an exceptional underwater experience as you see eye-to-eye with sharks, stingrays and other species of fish in their natural habitat. We haven´t actually been in the so called tunnels, there is an entrance fee for that. There is so much to see in Dubai so we are kind of waiting for friends and family to visit us and then maybe we will go with them and visit the Aquarium and other great attractions as real tourists at the scenes.

We wanted to see either Monuments men starring George Clooney or Non-Stop starring Liam Neeson. Unfortunately both of them were sold out :( So 3 days to kill, starring Kevin Kostner, had to be our third choice. And luckily it was entertaining! Some action, some romance and a lot of laughs. A very funny and easygoing movie!
So the weekend is soon to be over for us in Dubai.
Hope you are having a great weekend!
Love, love!
